Types of hysterectomy
Total Hysterectomy : Removal of the entire uterus, including the cervix.
Subtotal (Partial or Supracervical) Hysterectomy : Removal of the upper part of the uterus, leaving the cervix in place.
Radical Hysterectomy : Removal of the uterus, cervix, the upper part of the vagina, and surrounding tissues, including lymph nodes.
Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy : Removal of the uterus, both ovaries, and fallopian tubes.
Methods of Hysterectomy:
1.Abdominal Hysterectomy: incision is made in the lower abdomen to remove the uterus
2.Vaginal Hysterectomy: uterus is removed through an incision in the vagina.
3.Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: Small incisions are made in the abdomen, and a laparoscope (a thin tube with a camera) is used to guide the removal of the uterus
4.Robotic Assist Laparoscopic Hysterectomy : Similar to laparoscopic hysterectomy but performed with the assistance of a robotic system for more precise movements.
