A molar pregnancy, also known as hydatidiform mole, is a rare complication of pregnancy characterized by abnormal growth of trophoblastic tissue, which is the tissue that normally develops into the placenta. Molar pregnancies are part of a group of conditions known as gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTD).
