A hydrocele is a medical condition characterized by the accumulation of fluid within the scrotum, the sac that surrounds the testicles. This fluid buildup leads to swelling, which can be either painless or cause discomfort.Congenital Hydrocele: Present at birth, often seen in infants and usually resolves on its own within the first year of life.Acquired Hydrocele: Develops later in life, often due to injury, infection, inflammation, or other underlying conditions.

Hydrocelectomy is the most definitive treatment for hydroceles and involves surgically removing the fluid-filled sac.
Open Hydrocelectomy: An incision is made in the scrotum or lower abdomen, and the hydrocele sac is removed or repositioned. The specialist may remove the sac or stitch it close to prevent recurrence.
Laparoscopic Hydrocelectomy: A laparoscopic hydrocelectomy is an advanced, minimally invasive procedure to repair a hydrocele. Unlike traditional methods, this surgery involves making a small incision in the abdomen. Through this incision, the surgeon inserts small, specially designed surgical tools and a laparoscope—a thin, flexible tube with a camera attached. This allows the surgeon to visualize the internal structure of the scrotum on a monitor.
Once the instruments are in place and the surgeon has a clear view of the hydrocele sac, they will carefully drain the sac of any fluids.
